01

So How Does The Therapy Exchange Work Exactly?

Two Chairs Therapy Exchange operates as a membership-based referral program designed to connect mental health therapists in a supportive network.

Upon joining, members complete a detailed individual profile, providing essential information such as their licensed practice locations, therapy modalities, specialties, and professional interests.

Simultaneously, members communicate their preferences and criteria for finding a suitable therapist for themselves within the network. Leveraging this information, Two Chairs meticulously matches members with therapists offering pro bono slots that align with their specific needs and preferences. The objective is to facilitate a reciprocal exchange, where members both receive and provide pro bono therapy within the community.

It is crucial to understand that Two Chairs Therapy Exchange is not a private practice and no therapy is offered directly by Two Chairs Therapy Exchange. Rather, it serves as a referral platform and a networking space for mental health therapists. Each member assumes responsibility for their independent practice, while Two Chairs facilitates the connections, referrals, and a supportive environment for professional collaboration.

At Two Chairs Therapy Exchange, our commitment is to create a thriving community where therapists can engage in meaningful connections, support one another, and contribute to the well-being of their peers.

Where Are You Located?

Two Chairs Therapy Exchange originated in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, but our network spans the entire country. Our Fair Access Membership rate is $15 CAD/ month. If you are a therapist who wants to join the exchange but can't afford that right now, no worries. Check out our Membership Options page to find out more about our Community Supported Membership Tier for those who need a little extra help. Likewise, If you feel that you can afford to pay a little more every month to make sure that passionate professionals have access to the exchange, you can help offset costs for those who are struggling by choosing to pay a little extra Through our Helping Hands Tier.

03

Who Can Become a member?

Membership is available to mental health therapists across Canada who are in good standing with their respective regulatory bodies. To join, members must be both willing and able to offer pro bono mental health support to fellow community members, reciprocally receiving free therapy from the community in return if they so chose.

05

Wait, there's a cost? I thought this was free therapy

The therapy exchanged through the Two Chairs is done so on a pro bono, pay-it forward agreement amongst the members. Membership fees sustain the platform and cover operational costs, they do not cover the cost of individual therapy given or received as a result of the referrals made to members.
